Top 15 Most Anticipated Films of 2015
#10-6
#10: Doctor Strange (October 26)

Movies like Doctor Strange are always so goddamn exciting! The last time Marvel took a risky bet like this was with Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, and boy did that pay off. This time, we have Benedict freaking Cumberbatch playing a goddamn wizard! If that isn't enough to sell boatloads of movie tickets, I don't know what more you could possibly ask for. A comic book character that I don't know an awful lot about, the fact that he is a wizard sets him apart from all the other Marvel characters we've seen before. Going into a bit more of a mythological feel that follows the style of the Thor films (say what you will, I love them), Doctor Strange promises to be a new and exciting experience, and I cannot wait to sit down in a comfy cinema seat and see whether Benedict Cumberbatch is as good as a wizard as he is as a dragon.
#9: Deadpool (February 11)

All you have to do is watch one of the trailers for Deadpool and you will immediately see that this is the first superhero(?) film we've been given that quite simply does not give a single fuck. The film that Ryan Reynolds have been fighting for for over a decade, Deadpool promises to be a carefree, balls-to-the-wakk action flick with ridiculous action sequences, dialogue unlike anything we've ever seen before and more fourth wall breaks than imaginable. Honestly, this film speaks for itself and I don't have much to say. Go check out a trailer if you haven't already, and get hyped because it is just over a month away!
#8: Eddie The Eagle (February 26)

Okay, okay, okay. You're right. Eddie The Eagle is without a doubt the weirdest choice on my list. But once again, it is my list. I know absolutely nothing about the real life story being told here, but I do know that Taron Egerton and Hugh Jackman in a film together has me sold. Then the trailer came out, and that was when Eddie The Eagle cracked the top ten of my list. I don't know what it was, but something about this story really resonated with me. Just watching the trailer got me emotional. Everyone loves an underdog story, and seeing a guy like this being forced out of the Olympics by his country is sad, but then seeing him fight against it is uplifting. I'm not expecting Eddie The Eagle to be Rocky, but I am expecting to walk out of the cinema with a big, cheesy smile plastered on my face and a little bit of faith in humanity resotored.
#7: Silence (TBA)

It has been a very long road for famed director Martin Scorsese to finally get Silence made. For more than 20 years he has been attached to direct, with the film so close to entering production in the early 2000's that you could almost taste it. Initially having Daniel Day Lewis and Benicio Del Toro attached, the film is finally being made with a new list of actors. Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver play two Jesuit priests in the 17th Century who travel to the violent and anti-Christianity Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson). The lineup of actors is excellent, and the fact that this is a film Martin Scorsese has wanted to make for over twenty years is incredibly exciting. A question of why God remains silent in the face of so much sufferring, Silence is bound to be a deep religious filming asking all the questions many don't wish to ask and making profound statements. Let's hope Scorsese doesn't choose 2016 to lose his form.
#6: Suicide Squad (August 3)

Jared Leto playing the Joker alone is enough to have everyone, myself included, incredibly excited for DC's second big release of 2016. However, the Joker is just one part of a massive crew in Suicide Squad, as we see a whole heap of villains coming to the screen for the first time. From obvious selections such as Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Deadshot (Will Smith) to lesser known characters such as Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Enchantres (Cara Delevingne), Suicide Squad is easily the most packed DC film made yet, but also seems to be their darkest. A film solely dedicated to highlighting villains in a not so villainy light is a smart move from DC, giving us the kind of blockbuster Marvel haven't released yet. If the trailer is anything to go by, Suicide Squad will be awesome and I can't wait until August to see how 2016's most unique blockbuster plays out on the big screen.
